DESCRIPTION:Course Info:\n \n6 Week Creative Writing Workshop: So You Want to Tell a Good Story\nWhere Craft Lessons and Workshopping Collide\n \nBeginners welcome — no experience needed. This course is for those who want to write or have a story they want to tell. \n \nJoin us for a six week workshop starting Monday\, March 15th\, 2021. We will meet every Monday for 90 minutes starting at 6:30pm (MT). In each class\, we will devote most of our time to workshopping a piece of your writing. But that’s not all. Each class will include a lesson on a relevant craft topic so that you walk away with the tools you need to revise your work. \n\n \n\nWorkshop Host: Brianna Jett\n \n \nBrianna prefers tea to coffee\, dogs to cats\, and books to movies. She prefers books to almost anything else\, actually.\n \nCurrently\, she is a MFA candidate in Creative Writing at the Vermont College of Fine Arts\, in their Writing for Children and Young Adults program. Before pursuing creative writing\, Brianna taught English in South Korea\, produced TV news in Florida\, and studied Journalism and English at the University of Iowa. \n \n \n \n\n\n \nDetails:\n6 weeks \n6 students \n50 minute workshop \n5-10 minute break \n20 minute lesson or generative exercise \n10 minutes for sharing your work or discussing the day’s topic  \nEach lesson will include a suggested read that is relevant to our lesson\, available for purchase through Mountain Shire: Books & Gifts.   \n\n \nMaterials/What you Need:\na pen and paper \nan internet connection \n10-20 pages of a story you’re willing to share and have workshopped by strangers. (Times New Roman 12 pt font\, double spaced\, emailed before class starts) \na willingness to be vulnerable \nkindness and understanding when reading others’ work  \n\n \n If you’ve never participated in a workshop before\, no worries! Workshops are just a space for writers to share their work and get feedback from readers/writers. Everyone shares their work and everyone gives feedback. It’s a space of no judgement and a space of support. There is critique\, but it is all constructive. And remember\, you can take that feedback\, or you can leave it. Before the course begins\, workshop guidelines will be sent out and agreed upon by everyone in the group. \n \nThis six week course has slots open for only six writers.  Don’t delay\, sign up now!
